THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD

PROJECT ONE-THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD.

PRODUCT USED:

P89000 - Paper Company  12 x 12" spectrum cardstock
18638R1 - Xyron creative station
23462R1 - Xyron re-positional adhesive cartridge.
290260 - Cricut machine
George and basic shapes cartridge (comes with the machine)

HOW TO MAKE:

1. Crop your photograph to the required size and mat and layer onto black, pale pink and white card stock.
2. Place your photo on your black 12” by 12” background paper.
3. Cut a piece of 6” by 12” black paper and run through the xyron machine. Remove the top layer of protective film but leave the backing paper in place. Place this onto a new cricut mat (the mat needs to by very sticky as the xyron backing paper has a plastic coating on it and if the mat is not sticky enough it will slide around as you cut you shapes.)
4.Set your cricut size dial to one inch and enter your required letters (through the eyes of a child). Press cut. Unload the paper.
5. Repeat the process with a piece of white card but when you come to cut the letters press the shadow feature button before you press cut.
6. Remove the black and white letters from the backing sheet and place the black letters on top of the white ones. (by using the xyron machine you are creating sticky letters. I find it easier to work this way rather than cutting the letters first and then having to put adhesive on the back afterwards.
7. Using the flower shapes featured on the cartridge cut as many different colours of flowers as you require in sizes 1” to 3” using the rainbow cricut card pad. This can either be done putting adhesive on the back of the card first (as you did with the lettering) or afterwards by putting  the flowers through the xyron machine (larger shapes are less fiddley than small letters)
8. Arrange  the flowers around your photograph
Until you are happy with your layout.

N.B. Please note when you open a new mat it is very sticky. However the more you attach and remove paper from the mat the less sticky it becomes because you are leaving a residue of fibres from the paper on your mat. By leaving the xyron backing paper on your card you are not only creating shapes that are already sticky but you are also protecting your mat as the backing paper has a plastic coating and therefore doesn’t leave a residue on your mat. If you decide to use your cardstock directly onto your mat however another tip is when your mat has lost its stickiness run your cardstock through the xyron machine, remove all the protective layers and stick your card directly onto your mat. This will create stickers although they will no longer have a backing paper on the back of them so you may just want to cut the required amount for your project.
